Project Overview

Our company Maithri Aquatech has developed MEGHDOOT (which in Sanskrit means Messenger of the Clouds), an Atmospheric Water Generator which produces the purest form of potable water from the humidity present in the AIR! The water is also microbe-free and mineral-enriched.

Our company Maithri Aquatech has developed MEGHDOOT (which in Sanskrit means Messenger of the Clouds), an Atmospheric Water Generator which produces the purest form of potable water from the humidity present in the AIR! The water is also microbe-free and mineral-enriched.

MEGHDOOT is a completely decentralized solution which runs on a ‘plug and play’ model and can meet its energy requirements either through the grid or also work on alternative sources of energy such as solar and wind. MEGHDOOT is IoT (Internet of Things) ready and requires minimal expenditure for maintenance. This can be installed even in remote locations where there is no water available. This environmentally sustainable product is indigenously developed in India with already a low capital cost and operational costs.

In the current COVID 19 pandemic, there is a need for social distancing. With a large number of Indian citizens being dependant on external water vendors for meeting their drinking water requirements, due to the unavailability of potable water infrastructure or water scarcity in their respective area, this would make people vulnerable to the virus as they would be required to step out of their homes to buy potable water. MEGHDOOT being a decentralised plug and play solution, would allow people the opportunity to produce clean and safe potable water in the comfort of their homes. MEGHDOOT can also be provided to those on the front lines fighting against the spread of the virus so that they can be ‘water secure’.

Unintended Consequences

MEGHDOOT is based on a sustainable water technology, i.e Atmospheric Water Generation, which has no harmful requirements or consequences.

Missed Opportunities

With increased awareness, outreach and funding, Maithri Aquatech would be happy to provide potable water to humanity and wildlife, save non-renewable groundwater resources, and work towards a greener future.

Project Narrative

Maithri Aquatech’s MEGHDOOT is an innovative product which has been developed to be scalable, sustainable and decentralised. MEGHDOOT can be made available in different capacities basis the requirements of the customers. The smallest capacity of MEGHDOOT is 30 litres per day which can meet the potable water requirements of a residence or a small office. On the other hand, there are other models ranging from 50 litres per day to 2000 litres per day which can be used to meet the potable water requirements of a larger community. It can also be used to meet the large potable water requirements of an office or a factory or be installed in a public place to meet the potable water requirements of people who are on the move. Recently in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of water conservation and reduction in usage of plastic, Maithri Aquatech launched the World’s First Air to Water Kiosk at Secunderabad Railway station to provide safe drinking water, generated from atmospheric water vapours and free from any microbial contamination to the commuters at an affordable price. MEGHDOOT is highly scalable and even capable of meeting large requirements of potable water running into lacs of litres per day. This can be done by installing multiple numbers of our 2000 litres per day model (which is highly compact and requires a space of about 100 square feet) in a building block format to create a ‘Water Habitat’ in a place open to air circulation such as a rooftop of a building. Our solution is available in the market and has also been sold to a large number of customers across India. We have a large market presence in the city of Chennai due to the water scarcity experienced in the region. We sell to residential, corporate and government customers.
