Project Overview

Agricultural water use is under growing pressure in water-stressed basins, and corporate water-replenishment commitments need credible, measurable delivery on the ground. Doktar’s End-to-End Water Stewardship Framework gives farmers the tools and support to use less water, lose less water, and capture more water. Three levers drive this: (1) optimized irrigation scheduling using soil-moisture sensors, flowmeters, and satellite monitoring; (2) reduced losses through regenerative practices that improve soil moisture retention; and (3) farm-level rainwater harvesting ponds. Farmer extension services (field visits, training, and remote agronomic support) turn the technology into real behavior change. Each program follows the Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting (VWBA) methodology: basin context assessment, partner and activity selection, baseline documentation, and benefit calculation. Everything is tracked in the Doktar App, a digital MRV platform with dashboards for farmers and program managers. The framework is active in more than 8 countries and 26 programs, covering over 250,000 hectares with corporate and local partners. Program results show irrigation efficiency gains of roughly 8-12% with satellite monitoring alone and 15-24% when sensors are added. The project is on development stage, it is ready to start with partners and sponsors being added.
