In 2017, Inditex continued to integrate sustainability criteria for the use of water in all of its business areas, thanks to the implementation of its Global Water Management Strategy. The rational use of water and our commitment to “zero discharge” of undesirable chemical substances, are given special attention in the Master Plan for Water Management in the Supply Chain. This plan sets out the joint work of Inditex and its suppliers to integrate both of these criteria in the whole of the production process. In 2014 Inditex developed the Green to Wear procedure for environmental sustainability for wet process factories and, in 2017, we continue working for suppliers to follow the Green to Wear procedure in their wet processes through specific technical training projects. In just four years, we have conducted 1,075 environmental assessments in wet process mills. With each evaluation, we carry out an Environmental Monitoring Plan with individualised accompaniment, which allows our suppliers to optimise areas where environmental improvements can be made. Similarly, we inform our suppliers about our PFC Free policy to verify that all our products do not contain perfluorocarbon (PFCs), compounds used in waterproofing and water repellence finishes. Since they are mandatory for our supply chain, we have worked with 195 direct suppliers to provide sustainable alternative solutions. Thus, all aligned, we advance towards the commitment of zero discharge of hazardous substances in 2020.
