Concha y Toro offers its providers technical support in vineyard management best practice, including water management. Additionally, we work with the Chilean Wine Sustainability Code and our long term suppliers; this code requires suppliers to implement water management plans, irrigation plans, water quality analysis (biological & chemical), streamflow measurements, irrigation infrastructure maintenance, etc. During 2016, 28% of suppliers were certified with the Chilean Wine Sustainability Code. Concha y Toro works alongside INDAP (Institute of Agricultural Development) developing technical proposals for productive partners. This proposal includes the following targets:1) Increased productivity of the vineyards: through technical assistance leading producer in tasks such as pruning, irrigation and pest control, among others.2) Adoption of Good Agricultural Practices on the premises: the producer is guided in the implementation of the Good Practices with the ultimate goal to reach certification.3) Improvement of land management control: through the design and implementation of traceability records, costs from property records and other applications.4) Familiarity with computer tools and the Internet: seeking to strengthen the tasks above through maintaining computer records and time tracking.“Cometas” Program was launched in 2016, an initiative of collaboration and technical advice for premium grapes producers. The objective is to promote long-term relationships that allow the stability and sustainability of the wine business through technical advice and assistance in producer’s vineyards, so that they achieve and maintain the same standards applied by the company. This program considers the transfer of knowledge through theoretical-practical workshops, focused on the training of agriculture competences. Among management techniques, we help grape suppliers to adopt water efficiency techniques and to meet phytosanitary best practices to improve water quality.
