The International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) seeks to initiate multi-stakeholder partnerships with the private sector, the public sector and the civil society in order to formulate and implement measures to improve water security for all parties. A partnership with Total E&P, a petrol company and the Ministry of Water and Environment seeks for a better living of the inhabitants of the Kigwera and Ngwedo communities in the Buliisa district. Therefore various short-term interventions in the areas of water, sanitation, and water resources management are currently undertaken. This is meant to be a stepping stone and trust-building initiative towards a larger cooperation with TOTAL with regard to water stewardship.

Project Results

Expected outcomes are: 1.Enhanced knowledge in water source protection for communities; 2.Sustainable operation and maintenance of water sources; 3.Improved sanitation facilities in schools; 4.IWRM structures revitalized/established (including central and local government, communities, private partners).
