L’Oréal has announced its new environmental and social program, “L’Oréal for the future” which will commit €100m in impact investments to protect the environment and €50m to support vulnerable women. L’Oréal intends for this program to help respond to the long-term consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic while also addressing pressing environmental challenges. Half of the pledged €100m will go towards creating the L’Oréal Fund for Nature Regeneration. The fund will finance marine and forest ecosystem restoration projects that create economic development opportunities such as sustainable agriculture and fishing, eco-tourism, and carbon credit sales. The goal of the fund is to restore 1 million hectares of degraded ecosystems and create hundreds of jobs by 2030. The other half of the pledged €100m will finance projects related to creating a circular economy.
