Water stress presents direct risk to our operations – as a significant water consumer in many catchment areas, our licence to operate could be damaged during periods of water scarcity. We must take all reasonable steps to use water responsibly and ensure adequate supplies for our business, our employees and the communities they live in.

AstraZeneca recognises the need to use water responsibility and to minimise water use in our facilities.
Our 2016-2025 SHE strategy outlines our ambitious company-wide goal to maintain our water usage at 2015 levels through to 2025, despite projections for a significant increase in our business’ revenue. To reach this target, we will need to see a step-change in our water management and significantly improve the efficiency of our research, development and manufacturing. During the first year of this strategy period, we achieved a 5% reduction in water use.
