We are a hydropower production company that operates and maintains the Nalubaale Power Station(180MW) and Kiira Power Station(200MW) in Jinja and Buikwe districts respectively. Both power stations are located along River Nile (The Longest River in Africa) in the Victoria Basin. One of our key strategies is Enhancing Risk and Environmental Management and we have so far achieved this through ensuring 100% compliance with the legal requirements that govern water resource usage through; 1. observing the permitted water discharge levels by DWRM; 2.Regualr testing and analysis of the water source with an independent laboratory (NWSC); 3. Monitoring and reporting illegal activities to the Environmental Authorities; 4. Creating awareness and educating communities on water resource usage operate; 5. Preventing water pollution as the water is utilized in the hydropower turbine machines; 6. We undertake internal and external audits to benchmark our ongoing compliance with all the above and; 7. In 2014, we planted 10,250 trees in the catchment area of the Lake Victoria to control siltation from the bare hills of Igenge in Bugembe. We have a robust 3-year plan to plant an additional 30,000 trees in 2015 and more in 2016.
