The factory team continue to work to identify areas for further efficiencies. During 2017, the site has continued to implement their improvement plans and installed 1) blowdown improvement project saving 11,300m3 of water whilst also resulting in significant savings associated with abstraction, chemicals and wastewater treatment costs - simple payback of 1.7years. In addition, the site also installed a solar thermal project, supporting the generation of hot water and minimising the site use of natural gas - simple payback of 2.7years. The site continue efforts towards zero liquid discharge operations. Water risks associated with Lake Mead water supply have been included within the North America’s Ice Cream Category risk assessment & business continuity planning meetings. Site teams have regular engagement with Southern Nevada Water Authority on short & medium term water access & infrastructure plans.
