We have in place an industry-wide initiative called the Sustainable Tobacco Programme (STP) which all of our leaf suppliers are required to participate in. We have in place an industry-wide initiative called the Sustainable Tobacco Programme (STP) which all of our leaf suppliers are required to participate in. STP includes good agricultural practices such as integrated pest management, soil conservation, water conservation and pollution prevention to maximise yields and minimise dependence on agrochemicals; energy conservation techniques to improve curing efficiency; the planting of woodlots for tobacco farmers to become self-sufficient in fuel; and farmer training in safety and environmental management.
