In Lebanon, after the explosion that devastated Beirut on August 4, 2020, the Foundations Veoliaforce experts took emergency action on August 11. An assessment and technical diagnostics were carried out alongside the Beirut Water Authority and with the support of OTVs branch office in Lebanon. Equipment was dispatched and staff trained. The intervention allowed a targeted response to be defined to help ensure the widest possible resumption of service in the disaster area. In partnership with Unicef, the mission then continued with a new team of Veoliaforce volunteers tasked with carrying out a major leak detection operation. This was necessary in order to coordinate the repair of the primary and secondary water distribution networks.
