The anthropological impact caused by the inappropriate use of the land is the main threat to the Biological Reserve of Serra do Japi (Rebio), a significant part of the forest of the State of So Paulo, mainly characterized by hydrological wealth and flora and fauna biodiversity. One of the only remnants of the Atlantic Forest in the plateau of So Paulo, Rebio is located in the urban area of the municipality of Jundiai (SP). Despite being part of a Comprehensive Protection Unit, there are many trails used for visiting that surpass the limits of use intensity. There is also a trend towards bringing sylviculture to Rebio, which has caused problems related to the inappropriate use of land, including a greater incidence of forest fires. Considering that the region of the basins of the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiai rivers (PCJ) where Rebio is located has an availability of water under 1,000 m3 per inhabitant/year, the area is characterized by hydric stress, thus the conservation of areas with such biodiversity and spring wealth is fundamental to guarantee water, given the negative impact of climate change.
