NestlŽ WatersÕ flagship water preservation initiative, Agrivair, was established back in 1992. This pioneering community project, which covers 10 000 hectares in the Vosges region of France, was designed to protect the quality of the sources of our Vittel, Contrex and HŽpar mineral water brands. Bringing together farmers, businesses, governments and experts, Agrivair takes a holistic approach to improving local soil quality and biodiversity while preserving water sources and access. The initiative inspires farmers to develop resilient, responsible businesses. It makes land available, provides compost and manure-spreading services, and advises on technology and financing. Farmers are also encouraged to minimize pesticide use and to limit cattle populations while maintaining a fair income.

Project Narrative

We will reduce water use and improve wastewater treatment in textile dyeing and finishing. We have laid the groundwork to make meaningful change. To help manage water and treat wastewater, we created awareness with our FY20 baseline effort when we provided our suppliers with their monthly freshwater data and showed them how they ranked compared to their global and local peers with respect to freshwater use. Then, we drove commitment from the vendors to develop plans to reduce their freshwater use between now and FY25.
