Constructing four check dams in the Bundelkhand region of Central India, this program is bringing access to water to this drought-stricken area. As much as 46% of the population lives below the poverty line, which is exacerbated by declining water availability and crop yields. In addition, water famine leads to seasonal migration from the region. Through this program, the construction of check dams, along with the initial investment made to begin to dig boreholes and laying a pipeline for water distribution, will bring access to water to this area in need. Each check dam created will yield a reservoir with the capacity of 60 million liters of water. Local community members are working to ensure the sustainability of this program.

Project Results
