The overall goal of the project is to reduce poverty and improve health, environmental and economic conditions. This is done by empowering people and creating an enabling environment for achieving increased sustainable access to and use of safe water and sanitation services, improved hygiene and sanitation practices for women and marginalised groups. In specific terms, the project would deliver WASH facilities such as Rainwater Harvesting Tanks in schools and households, extension of pipe borne water in deprived communities and Institutional Latrines. The project facilitates access to hygiene information for behavior change through training, Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), School Health Education Programme (SHEP). The project further explores innovative financing mechanisms such as credit for sanitation and public-private partnerships.
