Project Overview

The Dow Seadrift site treats around 5 million gallons of industrial wastewater every day. In 1996, this project converted 110 acres of existing water treatment pond into constructed wetlands to treat suspended solids, primarily algae. The project cost about $1.4 million, much less than the estimated next lowest cost solution at $40 million. The wetlands have successfully resulted in compliant water quality for over 20 years.
