NatuReS’ Vision: Preserving Natural Resources

The Natural Resources Stewardship Programme (NatuReS) enables private-public-civil society partnerships to manage the natural resources they need for sustainable growth and better livelihoods. The programme’s vision is a world where all stakeholders collaborate to sustainably utilise the planet’s life-supporting natural resources for inclusive and resilient economic growth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NatuReS’ mission is to empower diverse stakeholders to work together towards inclusive and resilient economic growth.

To achieve this, NatuReS focuses on four working areas:

In each of these areas, the program engages in several key activities, including:

  • Supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships to address natural resource-related risks
  • Promoting a culture of stewardship amongst all actors
  • Sharing knowledge with stakeholders on the inter-connectedness of nature, economy and society, and the benefits of holistic, resilience-oriented solutions
  • Developing innovative, locally tailored, multi-stakeholder approaches to increase participation and development
  • Training and building capacity to encourage strong local ownership and an anchoring of stewardship in institutional practices and public policy
  • Acting in ‘third-party’ support roles between governmental, business and community groups
