The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is administrating a corporate collective action grant program in which corporations pool funds to sponsor watershed stewardship projects in Central Ohio (in coordination with the Mississippi River Basin Water Action Collaborative). This program leverages TNC’s local network and watershed planning expertise to identify (and catalyze) the most impactful projects in the region. The corporate collective action aspect of the program allows for funding of larger, more impactful projects, creates a more stable and predictable funding source for local organizations, and increases project visibility from the momentum of collective PR efforts as well as the collective action “story”. By administering project selection, implementation, and monitoring/maintenance, TNC is lowering the administrative burden for participating funders. TNC and corporate partners announced the first project funded by this program in 2024 (four corporations collectively funded a $1.2M wetland project). TNC is currently recruiting corporate partners to participate in the next funding round. Contact Adam Lehmann for more information (Adam.Lehmann@TNC.org).
