Project Overview

Yikitaa rural community has been living in hunger & cycle of poverty for +25years. It rains in November & December only; not enough rain to sustain farming for profit. The residents have land + labor, but lack cash/ funds to drill a borehole to get irrigation water from the ground, about 200m deep. The children drop out of school due to hunger & poverty; the young girls end up getting pregnant, giving birth to poor kids who live in cycle of poverty.

Solution? Get donor funding/ or foundation/ or low interest loan, payable in 3years, after farming 1-2acres of red onions or garlic, which are in demand locally, but +50% imported.

There about 130households at Yikitaa rural village with population of about 2,600 persons. Poverty level is currentl 75% of those living below US$1/day per household. Looking for US$200,000- to start farming.
