In Bolivia, a fourth part of the country's population (approximately, 2.7 million inhabitants) lack a safe and permanent access to water, which negatively impacts their life quality. Therefore, supporting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 (Ensure access to water and sanitation for all, focusing on the sustainable management of water resources). The RED #BOLIVIAconAGUA represents an alliance of three NGOs to support the achievement of said goal. #BOLIVIAconAGUA is committed to SDG 6 and agrees with the fact that, in order to generate a sustainable development, it is critical to have access to water and sanitation, which are Human Rights and essential for human health and wellbeing. In relation to the rural context of the Municipality of Arbieto, the social and economic problem mainly identified is linked to the lack of access to water, showing that 44% of the families in the rural area do not have access to safe water and 57% to a decent bathroom, and that 14.1% of the child population under 5 is affected by diarrheal infections.
