In the municipality of San Antonio La Isla, in Estado de Mexico, population growth is very evident, and the drinking water network has deteriorated, unable to provide adequate water to all of its inhabitants. In the municipality of San Antonio La Isla, in Estado de Mexico, population growth is very evident, and the drinking water network has deteriorated, unable to provide adequate water to all of its inhabitants. Due to the lack of water provided by drinking water network, there are water supply points that come from well, where the population goes to fill their jugs; and in places where there is no access to these points, the municipality supplies through water tank trucks. According to the annual report on the situation of poverty and social gap 2020 issued by the Welfare Ministry, the municipality of San Antonio La Isla reports a population of 31,682 inhabitants, of which 39.4% are in a situation of poverty and 10% do not have access to an improved source of water. Currently, the municipality insufficiency to supply water to the entire population due to the fact that it has only two extraction wells, added to the fact that the network's piping was installed approximately 25 years old.

Project Narrative

Improve water quality and drinking water supply through the: diagnostic and improvements in the water network infrastructure; a productive water sales kiosk managed by women; the��construction of 16 water tanks an installation filters & handwashing stations; and deliver WASH training on various topics (e.g., water security, storing of water, health, environment, leadership)
