Project Narrative

Water Access Plan: The McDowell County Public Service District (PSD) serves 3,300 accounts and is led by General Manager Mavis Brewster. DigDeep has been in communication with Ms. Brewster to identify shovel-ready projects which are lacking the funding to connect homes to PSD water pipelines or which are underway but will impose cost-prohibitive burdens on homeowners, forcing people to get skipped over or to risk leaks and burst pipes from their existing pipes which may be up to 100 years old. In addition to piped water connections, DigDeep will explore off-grid water solutions in homes for which piped water schemes are unfeasible due to terrain and geography. Sanitation/Wastewater Plan: For all homes in which DigDeep provides water access, we will also identify their sanitation/wastewater situation. We will offer various levels of support in order to ensure that they have an adequate septic system, wastewater pipelines, or other solution.
