We continue to address supply chain water risks in several ways. We are increasing supplier engagement in our Water Stewardship Strategy by participating in programs, such as the CDP Supply Chain Program. Additionally, we are helping our product developers and procurement teams understand and identify our most water-intensive raw and packaging materials. We invited several of our Tier I suppliers and suppliers of water-intensive materials to participate in the CDP Supply Chain Program Water Disclosure to help us understand and address water consequences and associated risks and opportunities in our upstream supply chain. In 2020, 83 percent of invited suppliers responded to the survey. More specifically, 47 percent of our Tier 1 direct material suppliers, by spend, responded to the survey, including our largest raw material suppliers and contract manufacturers. To help reduce the water associated with the production of raw materials, we are working to identify the most water-intensive materials in each of our product categories. With this information, we are able to engage our suppliers to better assess where there are opportunities to reduce the water footprint of our products through feedstock choices and conversion efficiency, particularly in markets under high water stress.

Project Narrative

Shared and sustainable water management: The Chilean Ministry of Public Works and Enel Generaci—n Chile have signed an agreement, which was subsequently ratified also with the local associations that manage the irrigation channels in the area of Saltos del Laja, in the B’o B’o region. The objective of the agreement is to improve the flexibility of use of the water, ensuring the supply to families and the power generation. The initiative is the result of a joint effort with the associations Canalistas del Laja and Canalistas del Canal Za–artu, Direcci—n de Obras Hidr‡ulicas, Direcci—n General de Aguas, Enel Generaci—n Chile, Ministerio de Agricultura, Ministerio de Energ’a and Comisi—n Nacional de Riego. There is also an agreement with the municipality of Antuco in order to start a pilot project to promote tourism in the area of Salto del Trubunleo during summer. In order to manage possible contingent or emergency situations in a quick and coordinated manner, a specific communication system was defined between the power plants of Pangue and Ralco of Enel Generaci—n Chile, the Angostura di Colbœn power station, the municipalities of Alto B’o B’o, Quilaco and Santa B‡rbara, the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security (ONEMI) and the Ministry of Energy.
