The purpose of the project is to encourage and support the dissemination of efficient cookstoves in Uganda. The cookstoves, which are specially designed for the project, are simple but durable and effective. In comparison to the traditional open fires, the new metal stoves enable users to reduce their fuel consumption by 35-50%. For the household, this means a significant saving of fuel costs. Through the increased combustion efficiency, using the cookstoves produces notably less pollution and therefore pose less risk to climate and health.

The cookstoves are produced and distributed locally, which creates regional added value, generates employment and provides income to the locals. With initial roots in the metropolitan region of Kampala, the project area is gradually being expanded and extended to more and more parts of the country. To date, more than 450,000 households have already benefitted from the new, efficient cookstoves.
