Project Overview

Millions of ducks, geese, swans and shorebirds depend on Central Valley farmland, and California’s 500,000 acres of rice fields are the centerpiece of this essential habitat. BirdReturns, offered by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with the California Rice Commission, provides an opportunity for growers to receive compensation for providing essential habitat for migratory birds on their productive rice fields.
