Kisatchie-Delta Regional Planning & Development District was established in 1967 by and for central Louisiana local governments, comprising 8 parishes, as a as a mechanism to collaborate on issues, act on opportunity, and create a “living” plan for the 8-parish region’s comprehensive economic development.

Our continuous responsibilities for regional planning activate capacity building, pursue and administer efficient use of investments in eco2-conscientious development, and provide ongoing support for the small business ecosystem. Our role as analyst, strategist, and catalyst focuses endeavors of the region to connect resources, develop business, and grow community. We endeavor to align development and resilience strategies and to provide support that connects communities and businesses with opportunity

We help our communities:

  • seek resources, funding, and opportunities
  • develop and structure projects, compete for grants, and create solutions
  • advance economic development, strategic consulting, and capacity building
  • assist small business development and enrichment

Serving a rural, comparatively distressed region of 55 governments, including two Federally-recognized tribes, our professional staff assists citizens, non-profits, local governments, and businesses to access resources that stimulate business and industry... supporting economic improvement and generating opportunities for outside investment to be drawn into our communities and our region, building on inherent connections to our rich natural assets.

Our singular goal is to sustain and grow capacity for economic competitiveness.

We build capacity for community-based economic development to sustain, to strengthen, to compete, to diversify, and to grow. Our approach is to assist our communities and partners in examining their assets, conditions and circumstances, identifying needs, and connecting with and pursuing resources that build foundations for competitiveness and stronger solutions for resilience.

We help build the capacity of communities and this region, by connecting needs with opportunities directly, in coordination with the other planning and development districts throughout Louisiana, and amongst networks of economic development districts throughout the Mississippi River Delta and the Southwest Region.
