ACWWA2030 - Alliance with Corporates for Worldwide Water Access - is an initiative launched originally by Accenture, based on its experience of partnership with Danone.communities and Veolia to support a social business, 1001fontaines, operating water kiosks, mostly but not only in rural Cambodia.
More than 50% of the global population (4 to 4.5 billion people today) still lack access to safe and affordable drinking water, which is a huge issue, knowing that it will worsen with population increase and climate change.
Many altenative solutions for safe and affordable drinking water access, that we call "Sustainable Water Access Operators" - SWAOs (like 1001fontaines, Water4, Project Maji, Naandi, Uduma,...) have emerged for 20 years and developed innovative, sustainable, purpose-driven and field-driven models to address this issue.
Our 1st conviction is that these operators are part of the global solution to accelerate SDG6.1 achievement ! “SDG6.1: By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all”. But they face strong challenges to grow faster and develop their social, environmental and economic impacts.
Our 2nd conviction is that global corporates have in their organizations expertise, networks and assets to make them scale-up faster.

Thus, ACWWA2030 mission is to engage a core group of members, especially committed Corporates, in a structure that will gather and bring more capabilities, expertise and financial support that the SWAOs lack of, to target a viable access to safe and affordable drinking water to 1 more billion people in 2030 .
