El Pachón is a bi-national mining project located 3,600 metres above sea level in Argentina’s San Juan Province, five kilometres from the Chilean border. El Pachón is property of Xstrata Copper (www.xstratacopper.com), the world ́s fourth largest producer of copper and one of the most important producers of molten, refined, and recycled copper worldwide. We are currently completing the environmental impact studies of this project, whose main product, copper concentrate, will be exported from San Juan. This export process will require both filtration and transportation infrastructure in the Coquimbo Region, in Chile, so that the product can then be sent to its target markets from a port in the Pacific. We believe that the future development of El Pachón will create a valuable legacy for the communities where we live and work. We are committed to achieving this goal through professional dedication to our work, along with genuine alliances and transparent dialogue with our stakeholders.
