The International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) seeks to initiate multi-stakeholder partnerships with the private sector, the public sector and the civil society in order to formulate and implement measures to improve water security for all parties. A partnership with NWSC (National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), largest utility in Uganda, is seeking to improve the water quality at NWSC abstraction points. In two major supply areas (Mbarara/Rwizi Catchment and Kampala) water filtration and groundwater abstraction is tested.

Project Results

Expected outcomes: 1.Improved water quality and security for NWSC in Mbarara and Kampala; 2.Lower treatment costs for NWSC (stabilized tariff).
