The project consisting of model facilities costing approximately Tzs 384.6 Million were constructed by AMREF through funding of EABL Foundation and Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL). The facilities consist of boreholes, rainwater harvesting tanks, shallow wells and water and sanitation facilities. Situated along the coastal region, Mkuranga has for a long time experienced poor access to clean, safe water as well as poor hygiene and sanitation practices.
