The International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) seeks to initiate multi-stakeholder partnerships with the private sector, the public sector and the civil society in order to formulate and implement measures to improve water security for all parties. The International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) seeks to initiate multi-stakeholder partnerships with the private sector, the public sector and the civil society in order to formulate and implement measures to improve water security for all parties. The Ruvuma watershed is a water scarce area. To prevent conflicts a partnerhship with the Agribusiness Company OLAM and the Ruvuma Basin Water Board (Ruvuma BWB) has been initiated in order to find and implement solutions with the participation of the civil society.

Project Results

Expected outcomes are: 1.Improve water security for stakeholders in the Ruvuma basin, including Olam’s operations through: 2.Establishment of Water User Associations; 3.Mapping of water abstraction points and point sources of pollution; 4.Certification of AWS standard.
