Detroit Water Brigade Our Mission: We are an alliance of compassionate citizens of Detroit and their international allies working to bring emergency relief to families water shutoff while advocating for an income-based Water Affordability Plan in Detroit, Michigan. Rapid Relief We deliver bottled water, water coolers, jugs, rainwater catchment barrels, filters, and other supplies to families. Supplies are donated to our various Water Stations in the city of Detroit by volunteers, allies, friends, families, and neighbors. The Detroit Water Brigade is a Local Grassroots community organization that provides emergency water, consultation, advocacy, and water restoration assistance to Detroit Residents experiencing a water shutoff or disconnection of service. Since June 2014, The Brigade has delivered emergency water to countless families and seniors who are having difficulty with their water service. The Brigade also has raised donations up to $30,000 in our first year to help restore water service to residents seeking to enter into a 10% payment plan arrangement with the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. The Detroit Water Brigade is officially launching our #SHAREWATER campaign aimed at servicing Detroit families facing water shutoffs. The Sharewater campaign is aimed at Detroiters being neighborly by sharing water with the affected family that is shut off on their block or in their neighborhood community. The Detroit Water Brigade will set up an active water hub in the affected area, canvass the neighborhood checking if other neighbors still have running water, and bring them to the water hub receiving help and resources. DWB also provides volunteer advocacy for Detroit residents and will help with families working to restore water service, going down to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, and getting a reduced deal turning the water back on. DWB will also try to work with City Leaders and Water Department officials to provide a settlement for Detroit residents to cut the past due water balance and zero out the debt. The Detroit Water Brigade has an active PayPal account link is http://www.detroitwaterbrigade.org/donate Alternatively, you can send a check and mail it to our headquarters at Detroit Water Brigade, 24 Avalon St Highland Park, MI 48203 Your donation will be processed by our fiscal sponsor, Avalon Village/Moon Ministry Church, a Detroit-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
