Agriculture accounts for 70% of water withdrawal globally and represents one of the biggest sustainability challenges. Meanwhile, soil health and lands are degrading at unprecedented rates. Our technology simultaneously addresses both these issues while also hitting up to 11 SDGs. In improving water management, we enable better resource efficiency and increased water allocation for people, communities and landscapes. And by solving problems related to soil salinity and saline water, we can forge a long-term solution for regenerating lands in semi-arid regions such as Peru, California, Central Asia and North Africa. Furthermore, in reducing water use, our technology reduces power consumption and emissions associated with pumping and desalination, with 3000x less electricity consumed than technology such as Reverse Osmosis (0.9 W/h per m3 compared with 2900 W/h per m3). Hence this is resource efficiency at all levels, with tangible social, economic and environmental benefits.
